Asked by Dr. SunandanDear Sir, My son is now 2yrs 7 months old. At the age 2yrs he tried to speak baba, ma, dada in very often. But now he does not speak this kind of word. He plays in his own mind. Even if I want to play with him he does not care. Now a day he shouted some times. Though we tried a lot to teach him about the common name like ball, pen etc. he does not care. Some time he went alone in barandah or other rooms and plays in his own mind with a piece of paper or a piece of cloth and can spent more than one hour. He can hear very clearly. When he wants to watch TV he come to us and holds our hands and shows us the remote to open the TV. When he become thirsty he follows the same thing either he holds our hand or bring water bottle to us. His elder sister also stared to speak fluently at the age of 3yrs+. When we call him with his nick name he always looks at us and come to us. His eye contact is very good. He does not like to play with his friends. We have admitted recently to him in a play group. Last two days he went there and tries to play. But the common gesture likes TATA BYE BYE etc he does not want to follow. He was admitted to the nursing home at the age of 6 months due to pneumonia. At the age of 8 months due to high fever he was senseless for about 30 seconds. We had admitted to him to the nursing home and he came in the next day. We told to the doctor whether scan or MRI is required or not. But at that time the doctor told us not required. Recently we met with the doctor Dr. Apurba Ghosh (Child Specialist, Kolkata), he referred to Autisim Society of West Bengal. I have consulted with other child specialist but they advised me for to go for MRI. I do not know whether it is really autisim or any neurological problem was there. Please suggest me whether I will consult with a neurologist or any other child specialist or better to go for autisim society. I have met with ENT specialist he told us he has no hearing problem. Please help me.
